A Silver Peace Sign Revealed in Beverly Hills
After two years of trying, Ringo Starr was finally able to unveil his Peace and Love statue in Beverly Hills Saturday. This 800 lb. statue shaped as Ringo’s hand giving the peace sign Is located on Santa Monica Blvd between Crescent and Canon right across from Beverly Hills City Hall.
Mayor John Mirisch first spoke and ceremony before bringing up the former Beatle. Starr thanked all the council members and those responsible for the statue and shared how it came to be starting with a mold of his hand.
In attendance were past and present All Starr band members Joe Walsh, Steve Lukather, Gregg Bissonnette, Jim Keltner, Colin Hay, Edgar Winter as well as his son Zak Starkey, producer Richard Perry who produced his first solo album and Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench.
Following the speeches Starr and his wife Barbara Bach and his brother in law Joe Walsh and wife Marjorie with the council members and mayor Mirisch stepped over to the statue to unveil it. After Starr posed for photos and did short interviews, fans were encouraged to take photos in front of the statue.
