It’s certainly a rare thing, to see a band continue to grow their career after 20 something years of going through the motions. Death Cab For Cutie is a prime example, having maintained three of the four longest standing members, and introducing two new members with the release of the band’s ninth studio album, Thank You for Today. Drummer Jason McGerr has been with the band since 2003, and he’s only ever looking ahead, dedicated to the role he plays in the progressive indie-emotional rock group. McGerr caught up with Drumhead before the band’s first ever show at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. They had played a fantastic set the night before at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, and while Jason was fairly tired, he was enthusiastic in our conversation about the state of his career, the tour and life as a drummer who’s always working to improve his game.
