Mike Clark and Marcus Gilmore
MIKE CLARK gained worldwide recognition as one of America’s foremost jazz and funk drummers while playing with Herbie Hancock’s group in the early 1970s. Mike became known as a major innovator through his incisive playing on Hancock’s Thrustalbum, garnering him aninternational cult following. Often referred to as the “Tony Williams of funk,” Mike considers himself a jazz drummer and has become one of the most vital players of the art form. Says Herbie Hancock of Mike's playing: "The solo he played on the song 'Actual Proof,' is one of the best drum solos on any of my albums."
Mike has performed with such jazz greats as Herbie Hancock, Chet Baker, Tony Bennett, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Eddie Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Woody Shaw, Wallace Roney and many, many more. He is currently co-leading a project with pianist Michael Wolff entitled the Wolff & Clark Expedition and also looking forward to the release of his hard bop band recording Indigo Blue: Live At The Iridium, which features Christian MacBride, Donald Harrison, Rob Dixon, Antonio Farao and Randy Brecker.

DownBeat Magazine Critic's Poll names Marcus Gilmore is one of today's rising star drummers. Inspired by his grandfather, legendary drummer Roy Haynes, Marcus has established himself as one of today's most in-demand drummers. Since he was 16 he's been a member of pianist Vejay Iyer's Grammy-Nominated trio. Gilmore has worked with an esteemed list of artists, including Cassandra Wilson, Kenny Garrett, Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard and many more. His primary focus of 2013 was spent touring with Chick Corea's band The Vigil, and also Return to Forever Trio with Stanley Clarke. The most recent album The Vigil was released and a new live album is in the works.
