Johnson is also the former Percussion Arranger for Riverside Community College, as well as the arranger for Beatrix Drum Corp. from Holland, San Francisco Renegades Drum and Bugle Corps.  His is also an arranger for many drum corps and marching bands in the United States as well as in Japan.  Personal awards include 14 D.C.I. Gold medal championships, 12 D.C.I. High Percussion titles, two W.G.I. Gold medal championships, three DCA Gold medal championships, two DCA High Percussion titles, 10 DCE championships, nine DCE High Percussion titles, seven High Percussion titles in Japan, and 1977 D.C.I. & P.A.S. Individual Snare champion, to name a few.

Known as the organization’s most prestigious honor, the WGI Hall of Fame was formed in 1992 to recognize individuals in the winter color guard and winter percussion ensemble activities whose extraordinary efforts and accomplishments have enhanced the WGI organization, broadened the activities’ appeal, and whose lives and accomplishments will serve to inspire, educate and be a role model for all those who participate in Winter Guard International.

“We are extremely proud and thrilled for Scott and his election to the WGI Hall of Fame,” says Jim Bailey, Education Relations Manager.  “He truly deserves this recognition for his skill and dedication to the Marching Percussion community.”

In addition, Johnson has been developing a new drumstick model for ProMark. His previous ProMark sticks include DC17, which features a medium taper and full bead for a wide range of dynamics on the marching snare as well as the TXXB3 practice sticks which are a pad and stick combined into one.
