altNothing More's Paul OBrien Discusses His Playlist

Album Drops 6/24 Summer/Fall Tour Schedule

San Antonio drummer Paul Obrien from the band Nothing More discussed with Drumhead what's recently been on his iPod:

“My current playlist is crazy, many styles," says OBrien. "Twelve Foot Ninja is a flawlessly executed fusion of reggae, funk and metal. We recently did some gigs with them and they're a class act all the way. Benny Grebb released a solo album years back called Grebfruit, which I absolutely love. [He is] Such an incredible musician all around and a huge influence. Matt Cameron crushes on the new Soundgarden album. I've also been listening to some Alan Watts lectures about different personality types he refers to as ‘Prickles and Goo.’ Look that up if you get a chance it's a real mind blow!!!" [Find Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s animated version of Watts’s lecture here.]alt

Nothing More’s self-titled debut album will be released tomorrow, June 24 via Eleven Seven Music. You can watch the video for “This Is the Time” here. Later this month the band will set out on the We Are Not Machines tour, headlining with special guests Sleepwave.

The band played NYC’s The Studio at Webster Hall last week to in advance of their album release. The band’s engaging and energetic performance was enthusiastically embraced by an eager crowd. The band also recently played the Download Festival in the UK, and Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany and have toured the US with Chevelle, Killswitch Engage and Lacuna Coil. So they can reach even more of their fans, the band is setting out on a run of headline dates prior to their recently-announced big fall tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat and Hellyeah.

X ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL EXCLUSIVE 4-NIGHT

Set To Perform First Four Albums – In Their Entirety – For Fans in New York, Chicago & Cleveland
Additional East Coast Shows Announced
Previously Announced West Coast Exclusive Acoustic Tour
Headlining Portland’s Pickathon Festival

X will present a special four-night engagement at Los Angeles’s The Roxy this July. The band will play their first four groundbreaking albums, in their entirety, performing the songs and albums exactly as they were recorded. Three more cities will get this exclusive engagement: New York, Chicago and Cleveland (see below for dates).

The series begins with the band’s debut, Los Angeles, followed by Wild Gift (both of which appear on Rolling Stone’s Top 500 Greatest Albums of All Time), Under the Big Black Sun and finally finishing the fourthnight with More Fun in the New World the band will play for one hour each night, rotating albums. A number of songs (“Bad Thoughts”, “Come Back to Me”) have never been performed live – they will all be performed that night! This also means band members will play instruments you’ve never seen them play before–Billy on sax, DJ on vibes. It’s going to be four nights of special music not to be missed!

In-between, the band will perform their amazing live electric show for fans in Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh, Ferndale and Grand Rapids, MI.  In addition, X are planning an exclusive west coast acoustic trek culminating with a headlining spot on the Portland, OR based Pickathon Festival” on August 2 and 3.  This marks the first time all four original members (Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake) have left the electric guitars behind and will play X material acoustically.

The L.A. punk scene in the late ‘70s saw its share of greatness, but few acts were as talented as the now world-class, live, rock ‘n’ roll band X. Their 2008 13-31 Tour across the U.S. was extraordinary, celebrating the band’s 31st anniversary. 2009 shaped up to be just as amazing for the veteran rockers, with appearances at SXSW and Coachella Festivals, along with their own “X – TRL” Tour, where fans helped select each night’s set list.  In 2011, X celebrated the 31st anniversary of the legendary album, Los Angeles, one that not only defined their career, but an entire musical era as well. The band also celebrated the re-release of their landmark award-winning rock-umentary, X: The Unheard Music.

X remains John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom, and D.J. Bonebrake.

altVirgil Donati Announces ‘In This Life’ US Tour

World renowned drummer and Pearl Artist, Virgil Donati, will be bringing his sensational and mesmerizing drum skills to a town near you on the recently announced “In This Life” US Tour.  The 12-date tour kicks off on July 12th at the legendary Baked Potato in Los Angeles, CA, and will make its way around the US for the following 2 weeks before coming to a close on July 25th, at Douglas Corner in Nashville, TN.  A full list of tour stops can be found here.

MyPet Releases Live Video for "Bodysnatcher"

MYPET- the Los Angeles based trio featuring Elmo Lovano on drums- recently released their new live video for the fan-favorite track, “Bodysnatcher,” which can be viewed here.  MYPET has been thrilling audiences worldwide since their debut in 2012, bringing their highly complex electronic compositions to life in a more-traditional live setting- meaning, with actual musicianship and without the assistance of backing tracks.  As seen in the video, Elmo is beautifully demonstrating his chops using a very scaled down electronic setup, relying on Pearl’s Tru Trac Drumheads and switching between several custom configured drum setups throughout each track.  Elmo explains:

"With MYPET, I have at least 3 kits per song, so we needed to find away to perform this meticulously, accurately, while bringing the record fully to life. With the Tru-Trac heads, I'm able to dual trigger, and have a drumhead-like feel in an electronic pad, which I need in order to make the samples have the proper swing. These heads give me a realistic response to an un-realistic scenario. In 'Bodysnatcher' my kits rotate 10 times. Can you find where they change?"

For more information on MYPET, please visit their official website- www.MYPETmusic.com.  More information on Elmo Lovano can be found here.

altDEAD DAISES ANNOUNCE SUMMER DATES WITH KISS & DEF LEPPARD

FACE I LOVE EP OUT AUGUST 5

“FACE I LOVE” APP & SINGLE OUT JUNE 24

BAD COMPANY & LYNYRD SKYNYRD DATES STARTS JULY 10

The Dead Daisies are a powerful musical collective with a rotating line-up that features some of the planet’s best rock musicians and a sound that’s influenced by late ‘70s and early ‘80s hard rock: big choruses, powerful melodies and strong hooks. The Daisies release the Face I Love EP on August 5 and are elated to announce a month-long tour with KISS & Def Leppard in August. These follow the seven East Coast dates the band has with Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd starting July 10.

The Dead Daisies were formed by singer-songwriter Jon Stevens and guitarist David Lowy in 2012. The 2014 lineup includes Jon Stevens (Noiseworks/INXS) on vocals, David Lowy (Mink/Red Phoenix) on guitar, Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses/Psychedelic Furs) on lead guitar, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake) on bass, Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses/Hookers & Blow) on keys and the new addition of Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne/Billy Idol) on drums.

For this tour, KISS and Def Leppard will be honoring their dedicated fans in the armed services by partnering with numerous military organizations. All military personnel will be given exclusive access to discounted tickets for the tour and military charities will receive a portion of ticket sales with the money raised being split amongst all the non-profit organizations participating with the summer tour.

"I am pretty pumped to hit the road with The Dead Daises and bring some kick ass, analog rock and roll music to all of you with the legendary KISS and Def Leppard and help make your summer as memorable as possible," proclaims Dizzy Reed. "So fire up the grill, chill the beer and the Jager and get ready to ROCK! See you soon!"

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014 The Dead Daisies will release the "Face I Love" single and launch the “Face I Love” App on their Facebook page, which will allow fans to be a part of the album cover art and music video. Created to represent the iconic daisy skull logo of the band, Facebook users will be able to upload an image of the face they love to the App to create a photo-mosaic portrait of The Dead Daisies skull and make it bloom. The promotion is a true collaboration between the band and their fans, bringing real meaning to the title of the song, “Face I Love.”

That same day, the EP will be available for pre-order with the title track given away as an instant-grat track to those who pre-order the album. Enjoy an early taste of the track and the band performing live with the video of The Dead Daisies performing "Face I Love" Live in Sydney. View the video HERE and feel free to post.
